Jeremiah 40: 4 “Look, the whole country lies before you; go wherever you please.”
The prophet Jeremiah fully submitted himself to God’s ordained assignment for him. He submitted to the word of the Lord. That is all he ever asked the people of Jerusalem- to do-submit and obey God .
Although Jeremiah suffered greatly for this message as his own people tried to kill him several times, the word of the Lord protected him.
After Jerusalem was ransacked, torn down and burned by the Babylonians just as Jeremiah had warned, the most amazing thing happened to Jeremiah. The commander of the Babylonian guard found Jeremiah, paid respect to him and honored his word by saying, “All this happened because your people sinned against the Lord and didn’t obey Him. But today I am freeing you from your chains on your wrists…Look, the whole country lies before you; go wherever you please.” (Jer. 40:4)
If we simply submit to what God is telling us to do, we will be released. He will make seemingly hard assignments easy. Let us “chain” ourselves to the Word of God and go free as the whole country lies before us.
