Psalm 4:3 “But know that the Lord has set apart the faithful for himself; the Lord hears when I call him.” Faithfulness is an important trait because it indicates that we have corrected our will to serve God. Our actions speak of a dedication to His eternal cause. Proven, faithful servants are of great value to God because they have passed a degree of testing and can be given important kingdom responsibilities to carry out. Faithful people belong in a special category. Because they have proven themselves, they gain a reputation for their consistency to carry out what they say they will do. In relationships, faithful people remain loyal despite changing circumstances. This type of person offers a glimmer of stability in an unstable world. The Bible says that the Lord has set the faithful apart for Himself. I believe that this is like Honor Roll students who comprise a special segment of their high school class. Although they are with the rest of the class, they are set apart by recognition of their superior dedication. In the same way, the faithful have God’s attention because of the eagerness and consistency they have shown. One of the names of Jesus is “Faithful and True.” Followers who develop this trait become a human expression of God’s own faithfulness and dependability, and therefore a credit to His character.
