She does the Laundry, the groceries, and cooks, cleans and balances checkbooks while holding a baby on her hip. She is involved in multiple projects at once, sometimes works outside of the home, carpools, after waking the children up and helping them get ready for school, she is an activist for human rights, a voice in our communities and at the checkout when she has been charged too much for something, she fights for justice and fairness and yet she loves deeply and is not afraid to show it. She is as beautiful and fragile as the petals of a rose yet as strong as a Palm tree bending in the winds of a storm; she does not break easily. A mother can move mountains when she prays and children fear the Lord because of her. If she were to go on strike, it would be the end of the world. Within her there are life-giving properties. Without a mother there are no children, without children there are no families and without families there is no humanity.
On Mother’s Day we celebrate the gift of God to all humanity, Mothers. For some it is a joyous day, a day of exchanges of gifts, love, hugs and kisses. For others it is a day of sadness remembering their mother who now is not with them. And for some it is a wretched day, a day when they remember that they never knew this person called a mother, a day when they remember their abandonment and or abuse.
While there are more good mothers in the world, we must also acknowledge the fact that there are mothers who left, mothers who weren’t kind, mothers who abused, and mothers who just didn’t care.
Psychologist, counselors and Pastors have agreed that the most influential relationship a person will ever have is the relationship between themselves and their mother; whether the mother was present or not, her actions or absence shapes or marks a child’s life forever. It is no doubt that a mother is essential and important in life.
If a person feels loved and accepted, it can be traced back to a healthy childhood where mom and dad influenced acceptance. Sometimes this comes from grandmothers or aunts and uncles who helped to raise the child, but over all the love of a parent shapes a child’s self-esteem and attitude toward themselves.
But sadly it is also true that if a person feels unloved and unaccepted, there is usually a trace of abandonment in that child’s life and can usually be traced back to the parents.
The relationship between a child and his parents prepares that child to face the world and the relationships that await him.
To the mother’s who have embraced this mission of parenting with love and total commitment, we applauded you today. Today we say thank you. We acknowledge your efforts and hard work. Life isn’t perfect and we aren’t perfect, but our children love us and need us in a way that is like no other.
It is not a secret that some of us moms have wanted to quit at some time. Motherhood is hard. Questions, comparisons, financial hardships, sickness, weariness, and some times just plain boredom can cause a woman to want to give up and run far away where she can regroup and refresh.
But to those of us who haven’t quit, today we say to you, Thank you. We see you and hear you today. We acknowledge and admire your tenacity, a woman who laughs at the days to come because she is clothed with strength and dignity. –Proverbs 31:25 you are fearless and relentless, we see that and are grateful. We thank God for a mother’s prayers. A woman who fears the Lord she shall be praised. –Proverbs 31:30
To the children and husbands and or families that surround our moms today, keep your eyes and your ears open for ways to help mom around the house, encourage her; love her. Watch your words; don’t take her on guilt trips instead take her to the spa or her favorite places. Her heart is sensitive but beats for you.
With much love, Happy Mother’s Day,
So Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17
I was meditating on this scripture today and found that if we want increased faith we must HEAR. Hearing comes by the Word of God. As you read His word you begin to hear His heart and your faith is increased and developed. As we hear Him more, we are washed as our faith grows. Washed by His word.
Here is a step by step to help you get this principle deep down in your spirit:
It all begins with reading His word. can't get away from that; it's the Bread of Life. it must become an essential part of your day.
Show me who I am to you
Show me what you want me to do
Show me where you want me to go
I will follow you til the end on the road
Your heart is what I want to know
Face to face I will know, what you show
In your presence I see clearly
In your presence I see deeply
It’s in you I find the meaning
of all things lingering
in my mind fighting for my attention
contending for my worship
who should I let sit on the throne of my mind?
who should I listen to you or my heart?
“Let me in”, you gently whisper,
let me show you, let me lead you
“Show me who I am to you!”, I whisper
Show me ME, and show me YOU. -BrisyO
What exactly is integrity and why is it important to have?
Integrity has to do with relentless honesty. You choose to be honest in all situations.
It is what you decide when there are only two people in the room— you and your conscience!
The Bible educates our conscience to show us what is truly right. Then we are convinced not to
take advantage of situations that may be to our gain if we just bend the rules a bit. Psalm 15 gives
us a list of other traits that involve integrity.
Joseph in the Book of Genesis was a man of integrity. At one point when he was a young man, his
master’s wife desired him while the master was gone from the house. What an opportunity! But
Joseph told himself, “No!” He said, “How then could I do this great evil and sin against God?”
You see, God gave Joseph a very special dream describing his destiny. Once Joseph understood that dream, he knew that God would be watching his every move! So Joseph vowed to himself, “If I want this dream to happen, I better do this thing right!” And he did! God did fulfill his destiny because He saw that
Joseph could be trusted.
I promise you, the minute you open your mouth in public to say you are a Christian, people are going to start watching you to see if your behavior matches your claims. Let’s uphold the Name of Christ through a commitment to honesty to see how God will entrust us with even greater things!
In spite of a few glitches here and there Encounter weekend 2013 was a huge success. We saw people getting healed and delivered from sickness, sins, the past and un-forgiveness. The sweet presence of God was there all weekend Guiding us. 12 people were baptized in water and all of them experienced the Freedom of God.
We are set free to set others Free. We are healed to help others heal. We are forgiven so that we too can forgive. This is true FREEDOM. Whom the Son set free is free indeed.
I encourage all who attended to maintain this new-found freedom. There is nothing too hard for God. remember that Praise is your weapon. Determine to live a lifestyle of Repentance before the Lord. Look to fulfill the Great Commission and always remember to live in the Spirit; Live in God's presence, it's where we breathe, it's where we survive. He is but a breath away. Call on Him and He will answer.
Pastor Nate and I are proud of each of you as you leave your past behind and move into the future lighter than before.
If I brood on the Cross of Christ, I do not become a subjective pietist, interested in my own whiteness; I become dominantly concentrated on Jesus Christ's interests. Our Lord was not a recluse nor an ascetic, He did not cut Himself off from society, but He was inwardly disconnected all the time. He was not aloof, but He lived in an other world. He was so much in the ordinary world that the religious people of His day called Him a glutton and a wine-bibber. Our Lord never allowed anything to interfere with His consecration of spiritual energy.
The counterfeit of consecration is the conscious cutting off of things with the idea of storing spiritual power for use later on, but that is a hopeless mistake. The Spirit of God has spoiled the sin of a great many, yet there is no emancipation, no fullness in their lives. The kind of religious life we see abroad to-day is entirely different from the robust holiness of the life of Jesus Christ. "I pray not that Thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that Thou shouldest keep them from the evil." We are to be in the world but not of it; to he disconnected fundamentally, not externally.
We must never allow anything to interfere with the consecration of our spiritual energy. Consecration is our part, sanctification is God's part; and we have deliberately to determine to be interested only in that in which God is interested. The way to solve perplexing problems is to ask - Is this the kind of thing in which Jesus Christ is interested, or the kind of thing in which the spirit that is the antipodes of Jesus is interested? by Oswald Chambers - My Utmost for His Highest
Character in a saint means the disposition of Jesus Christ persistently manifested.
It is the unseen and the spiritual in people that determines the outward and the actual.

I see the hand that reaches in
Digging deep into my heart,
mixing the rich, fine loose soil
His hand toils the powder of my heart.
Pain surges as He examines the content
to find the things that hide, the things that
hold back and block the growth of the seed, like Pride.
I feel every touch and hear his heart that says,
"hold on, be patient, believe and have Faith".
I clamber within, resistance sets in;
I cry out in agony, "Lord, please, is it over yet?"
Finally I surrender as I see at the distance
the little seed He plants, the little seed He whispers.
Gently He folds in the now fertile soil and smiles in delight
as he sees the work of His hands and my future in sight.
Seed, Time and Harvest my dear",
His words ring gently in my ear.
Surrender into growth,
and see in you the Lord's Wonder. - by BrisyO
When I think about making a covenant with the Lord, I remember two scriptures that tell us what God wants from us. Micah 6:8 which says, "But he's already made it plain how to live, what to do,
what God is looking for in men and women.
It's quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love,
And don't take yourself too seriously—
take God seriously" and the great commission, Love God and Love your neighbor. Along with these instructions from God i'm also reminded of Repentance and Forgiveness which are also essential to a good covenant relationship with GOD.
In the book of Romans we also read that offering up our bodies as a living sacrifice is our REASONABLE service.
My covenant to God is as follows:
Lord, I promise to serve you all the days of my life. I dedicate my hands, my feet, my mouth, my eyes, my ears and my entire life for your service. (Romans 12:1)
I promise to walk humbly, love mercy and seek justice. (Micah6:8)
I promise to live a life of repentance; always being careful to search my heart when things don’t go my way. (2Chronicles 7:14)
I promise to be quick to forgive, not allowing offenses to fester in my heart.
I promise to read your word daily.
I promise to pray daily and without ceasing as you instructed us in your word.
I promise to tell the truth.
I promise to be faithful, that is, be full of Faith, to believe, and hope even when I can’t see in the fogginess of circumstances because it is my Faith that pleases you.
Lord, I promise to Love you and love my neighbor even those who are unloveable.
I promise to take time out to rest in you because you said I should strive to find rest.
I promise to worship you and only you because you are the only and Holy God who saves.
My Sisters and Brothers will you make a covenant with God today? -brisyo
While soaking on God's presence last year around this time, I began to write what I was feeling and this poem was formed:
There is a sound rising up in my heart coming forth from the east toward the west
bubbling up inside me like a river it circles and pools in my heart,
like a whirlpool it swirls and swirls.
I see white-water bubbling in it’s rage;
But it’s joy! It’s joy and freedom! Wild and free to flow!
Holding nothing back, I give it to you the waters of my heart, the flow within.
No one's going to hold me back any more.
No more fear, no more shame, no more accusations, no more lies, no more distractions,
no more confusion! Only peace, only joy. Let it rise God let it rise!
Nothing else matters in God’s presence, some get lost in fantasies to escape realities, I escape fantasies to get lost in His reality. God’s presence is more real than the real I see.
I can’t see Him but I breathe Him! Every breath brings life!
With every breath I take in, I close my eyes and I feel His face touch mine
Some day I will open my eyes and see Him there! -by BrisyO
