Lesson 1. Our life should produce in others a longing for more of God.
I am understanding more today that we need to be thankful in all circumstances that push us closer to God. The good the bad and the ugly. We preach this all the time but many don’t really know this; I mean really, really know this!
We say things like:
I don't care what others say or think about me
You only live once
I'm letting it go
I don't care about anything anymore
and all in the same breath we say:
I only care what God has to say about me
I only care about my family
I want to live only for God
But this is an oxymoron because if we really care about what God has to say about us then we will understand that as we draw closer to God we are also drawn to serve Him in all we do, standing for His precepts and striving to live for Him. And how do we do this? well, we live for God as we serve others and live an exemplary life, a life dedicated to holiness. a life transformed. We must love and embrace others in order to show that we are following God; keeping the peace, maintaining a good attitude, sometimes becoming a sacrifice, a doormat for His Glory and allowing others to shape us through opposition! Yes, opposition.
Looking at the circumstances and people who have stirred up crazy emotions in me, I see that it served to produce in me a deeper longing for God and knowing His heart. I wanted to understand, why? I wanted to understand how and where I am, spiritually, in all of this; thus drawing me to the feet of Jesus.
God uses what and who He wants to cause us to draw closer to Him. We must keep our eyes on Him and immediately when opposition comes, we must run and hide in Him. Hide under the shadow of His wings. Run into His arms and ask God, "Show me You in this and show me, ME in this".
I choose to chase God always in every circumstance and not perfection or my own fantasy of self-gratification.
Stand back and look; see from a Holy point of view:
Whether we admire someone else’s pursuit of God or we abhor their distance from God, in everything run into the arms of the savior who produces in us the Fruit of the Holy Spirit and places us in pursuit of a perfect relationship with the Father and not a love affair with the secular mentality of self-perfection and self-gratification. #pleasinggodpleasesme #servantfirst #imustcarebecausehecares
