In her white dress she walks about
in her long beautiful gown that flows out
onto the streets like a waterfall of sorts
she graciously scans the streets looking for a place to rest
but along the way, what she encounters, is unrest
she is filled with compassion for the lost and helpless
for the broken and heavy laden
she scurries to pick each little one up
into her arms she tries to carry them all,
some just want out while others lay lifeless feeling hopeless
Her dress is stained as chaos bleeds
Her dress is ripped by the ones who hate her speech
She is not loved in the streets
Some of her very own hate her
Some of her very own look down at her
But onward she goes
weary she continues to flow
she is eternal
she is endless
Bought with a price to recue the captives
It is no secret that change is upon us in our Nation and for those who have an eye to see and an ear to hear, we can see the effects of the changes leaking into the Church.
In particular I have heard hate being spewed at God's people in these months. People have said things about the Church (The Universal Church) that have hurt my heart.
God reminded me that He loves the Church. He paid a price for Her. She is the Apple of His Eye. She is His Portion. She is His Bride. She is also Jerusalem. His love for the Redeemed Ones goes farther and deeper than what we could ever imagine.
We all know and accept the Love God has for us as individuals but have we accepted that He has a zeal and a very special love and affection for the Church as a whole?
She is His Throne (He inhabits upon the Worship of His people and He is enthroned upon our Praise)
Jerusalem will be the new Ark- God's Throne All the godless nations, no longer stuck in the ruts of their evil ways, will gather there to honor God.
She is His lovely Bride in whom He rejoices
Song of Solomon 3:11
Come and look, sisters in Jerusalem. Oh, sisters of Zion, don't miss this! My King-lover, dressed and garlanded for His wedding, His heart is full, bursting with joy!
He weeps over her - she did not know her hour of Visitation (are we welcoming Him?)
When the city came into view, he wept over it. “If you had only recognized this day, and everything that was good for you! But now it’s too late. In the days ahead your enemies are going to bring up their heavy artillery and surround you, pressing in from every side. They’ll smash you and your babies on the pavement. Not one stone will be left intact. All this because you didn’t recognize and welcome God’s personal visit.”
Anytime we read about God's affections toward Jerusalem in the Bible we need to remember that He is talking about His redeemed ones too, you and I, The Church. We can apply it to ourselves most of the time.
As we pray we should remember these key questions:
My prayer for you today:
May they fall more in love with You God and may they love the church enough to defend her. May they be proud to be The Church, The Bride of Christ. May Love flow out of Her as she seeks to rescue the lost.
May You Lord, be enthroned upon the praises of a thousand generations. You are worthy.
May you be blessed to know that you are His most prized possession!
