This Sunday after church we had a strange occurrence. A man came into the church and perhaps under the influence of some drug or some spirit began to get a little too comfortable with the microphone in a very perverted way. After someone took the mic from him he proceeded to take his obscenity and inappropriate behavior to the fellowship hall of the church where after some confrontation he was escorted out.
This morning I had the opportunity to continue in prayer about the "strange occurrences" of this weekend.
I began to explore on the spiritual meaning of perversion and opened up a floodgate of understanding.
perversion = to alter/change the original purpose of something. to do things in an abnormal or unacceptable way. to corrupt, obstruct or destroy an original intent.
The microphone in a church is a very important tool for voice and messages to be heard. It can be used to spread blessings or curses. It can be uses to correct and influence for the good or can be used to manipulate and sensually influence people to believe lies. nonetheless it is a tool, much like we are in the hands of God.
In my searching for revelation I came across the spirit of Jezebel who is characterized by Bible scholars as a whore and witch. But I wanted to learn more and really see what this has to do with us and this is what I'm seeing:
A person or organization operating in the Spirit of Jezebel carries with it a few key characteristics:
So what does this mean for RED?
I believe we have to guard ourselves from the influence of this spirit. I believe this generation operates in this spirit. people are willing to die for a cause these days. people will go down holding on to their selfish world-views. to get their way people will lie, be false, be sarcastic and intimidating. Many want to be independent but are walking around with "an-eye-for-an-eye" mentality; Vengeful, looking to see or even be part of the destruction of others who have done them wrong or have something they want.
Anyone operating in this spirit stirs up intimidation. preachers may begin to feel intimidated by the congregation, teachers may begin to feel like they don't know what they are talking about. comparisons arise within the servants. envy, jealousy, gossip.
People under this influence, who are usually meek and respectful become daring in the most inappropriate times and they do it in the name of God. believing this is "boldness" as Paul preached it, but there is no love in it.
A person who is operating in this spirit is un-repentant. they really believe they are in the right. they believe everyone else is wrong and they don't want to change or be transformed.
The only way to conquer this spirit is through prayer and remembering that Mercy triumphs over judgment.
We can only confront this in meekness, gentleness and humility. Therein lies the victory.
once, God spoke to me through a person who prayed for me, saying: you are a Sunflower. so I found out that the sunflower is a faithful light-seeker. The sunflower turns to the direction of the Sun, always. it is unwavering in faith and the love of God.
So in light of the fact that "darkness" has wanted to surround me this week, I have decided to "Follow" the light and seek it with all my heart because that's where my victory is. Victory is in the seeking and in the praying.
So let us pray together:
Today I stand "unwavering in my faith" that Jezebel has no influence over me and at RED4C. I declare the spirit of intimidation broken off of us, our pastor, our children, our church and our friends. No weapons of manipulation will prevail over us. We will see it coming and push it back with the Word of God and love.
I stand firm on my faith as Elijah did and stand up against Jezebel like Jahu did and demand that things be Transformed or prepare to be destroyed in the name of Jesus. Jezebel chose to die but I believe that under grace the men and women of God of this age have been equipped by the Holy Spirit to conquer Jezebel with Loving those under her influence. I vow to walk in love, humility, meekness and gentleness because there is victory here. And I will always remember that Mercy Triumphs Over Judgment.
HERE'S A THOUGHT:
Jezebel was being loyal to her god. she was faithful to what she knew and believed onto death. She didn't repent because she didn't believe in Yaweh. Her pride didn't let her repent. She died for her cause.
How many Christians today are that unwavering in their faith?
Let us examine ourselves.
