Psalm 91: 1-3 “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!’ For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper, and from the deadly pestilence.”
No doubt there is a stubborn, unwelcome strain of flu going around that sometimes stays for 2-3 weeks as our bodies fight to recover. Recently, there have been reports of children dying from it. How do people catch the flu? Where does it come from? No one knows—it just shows up! This is the invisible “deadly pestilence” that creeps into our lives that scripture mentions.
What is the cure? No one knows that either! There are several ways to fight back: Stay in bed and rest, drink fluids like hot lemon juice and honey, take Vitamin “C.”
Did you ever think that coming to church service to corporately experience the presence of God could help prevent sickness? God says that when we dwell in His shelter and abide in His shadow that He will defend us from deadly pestilence. He stops unseen enemies from invading us! And another benefit—there is no doctor bill to pay! For your own sake, don’t miss a Sunday worship service and miss a time of abiding in the shelter of the Most High God. This is good sense and good medicine!
